Book Five Publication Date: 3/3/14!

Seeing how life has kept me pretty busy lately, I apologize for the lateness of the publication for the book due out in January! I had some extra editing to do on it, it is substantially bigger than the other books, so it took longer to finish. Anyhow, I know you will all really love it! It is one of my favorites so far!  Thank you friends and fans! I’ll post links once it’s up on Amazon, on 3/3/14!

Betrayal of Weakness, Book Five of The Legends of Sangue coming soon!

Betrayal of Weakness, Book Five of The Legends of Sangue coming soon!

BOWCover

Almost thirty-six years after the tragedy of Queen Tancia Catallino’s brutal murder leaves the royal line and rural community of Sangue, Montana lost and hopeless. The Elemental Circle missing a sorceress on the brink of destruction, impending disaster and mass death, the only person prophesized to find her has gone missing. The tiny town of the underworld suddenly comes to light in the normal mortal world and everything begins to fall apart, with no closure to the cherished Queen’s death and the royal line of Sangue open to enemy attack, all sorceric protection failing with the impending Elemental Circle’s demise, nobody knows what to do.

A surprise visit from the past brings precious new, fragile hope to Sangue, just as the town is attacked and the destruction of the world is all but imminent. It’s anyone’s game, a dangerous game that must be played with utmost caution. Rules have to be broken in the worst ways and old grievances aired, enemies reunited as allies with Sangue and the impossible accomplished before a single chance of survival can be obtained. But can everyone work together peacefully in time to keep tragedy from repeating itself?

Better yet, will the ancient prophecies of Sangue’s survival be fulfilled, the true leader found before all is destroyed and the harrowing sacrifices of the past mean nothing?

Can Sangue’s path to peace finally be restored?

The answer lies within the most shocking of discoveries. And somebody knew the answer all along.

They just haven’t realized it yet.

New Characters= Complicated Fun!!

MOHM

It’s been awhile since I’ve talked in any kind of detail regarding my novels. I cannot tell you why, I just haven’t. Now I want to (funny how life works out that way.)

So, my two newest characters (First Captain Aida Mancini and Captain Mario Baldovino) were introduced to my series in 2009 (when I began the rewrites of the whole series, starting with book 1, Blood of Darkness, which was published in April of 2012) I made so many changes from the original books that I found gaps that I needed to fill in, and Aida and Baldovino did so perfectly. That is probably the most grateful change I have needed to make, I love Aida and Baldovino and they have become important aspects to the series.

BUT, it has made things slightly complicated. Being that they did not come into my series until 2009, and I finished with the original copy of book 11 in 2008 (remember, I am rewriting them all). That leaves 11 books they had no parts in. At first, Baldovino was a fill-in character who has become a very integral sub-character, and Aida was originally intended to have a big part in books one and three, and fade from there. I feel almost blasphemous saying so, Aida is such a dear part of the series now. But that leaves me with 11 books I need to change.

How much fun is that??? TONS.

It’s complicated, but it’s fun. And I can’t help but feel these characters were missing from the very beginning. Aida’s quirky bad-ass attitude adding comedic value, Baldovino’s brash hardcore personality adding its own form of comedy as it becomes clear since book 3 just how much he hates the Werewolves.

And the more I write, the more it becomes so obvious that they belong, just as importantly as all my other characters. From the first character I created in 1999 (Alisha) to the turning point in 2002 when I decided Otztal would be my main character, to now, when book four is almost entirely reconstructed and in its final edit before publication, with 9 more books (at least) in the works just waiting to be rewritten and published… It’s been an incredible journey that continues in complicated, fun and amazing ways.

I can’t wait to see how the series continues as I continue to mold it and form it and watch it grow, and be grateful that I can share this experience with all of you 🙂 Thank you, my dedicated fans and readers!

Today Is Where Your Book Begins… The Rest Is Still Unwritten

Serenerainleaves

As a writer, when I sit down to my quill and parchment, it is obviously distressing when words do not come to me. Because I love words, I’ve been thinking words all day, I’ve been “practicing” in my mind what I will write, what I want to say, where I would like to take my story, and now that I am sitting down to write it, the words are gone.

But I begin to rethink this phenomenon (known as “Writer’s Block”, should such a thing even exist) I am beginning to believe that there is no such thing. Why? Because words are always there. Perhaps there is something keeping you from finding them, or life’s distractions have hidden them from you and you may have to unravel a few layers of yourself to find them. (For those of you sitting there angrily shaking your heads, thinking “she has no idea what real writer’s block is!” Yes, I do. I’ve had to put projects aside for YEARS because I was stuck. I understand the frustration.)

But as with many things, maybe a different perspective is needed to understand this. Sometimes, being wordless is beautiful.

How?

Now that I have to temporarily place my project aside, I’m able to listen to the sounds around me. A recently rediscovered beautiful song, the noisy neighbors, even the television in the other room. It allows me to temporarily focus on something else, realize that the pressures I am putting on myself are utterly unneeded. There is nothing in this world that’s going to stop or crumble because I’m unable to find my words.

“Staring at the blank page before you, open up the dirty window, let the sun illuminate the words that you cannot find. Reaching for something in the distance, so close you can almost taste it, release your inhibitions.”- Natasha Bedingfield (“Unwritten”)

Maybe I just need to open my window, let in a little sunlight.

Maybe eat a little chocolate.

Namaste, everyone. Have a wonderful night (or day, as it may)

April Blizzards Bring May… Lizards?

funny-lizard-bearded-dragon-reading-book-story-pics

I apologize for the pun, but I could not think of anything else that rhymes with these wretched April blizzards we continue to get. I can only imagine what they will be bringing for May!

I hope it won’t be more blizzards!

My fingers are so cold I can barely type, lol.

Oh anyhow, Of Trust Or Treason is going fantastically well! I wrote a few thousand words last night, I am piecing together all the little bits, editing as I go along. Work I truly enjoy! (Uh, well, the writing. The editing not as much) But the book should be WELL more than ready for publication by June! I can’t believe it’s almost June. Of course, I’m watching a blizzard out my window right now- of course I don’t believe it’s almost June!

Oh well, nothing I can do but hope for the best!

Have a good night everybody, I am off to do some more authoring!

Introducing Book Four!

OTOT123

Locked inside our own home; No one in, no one out. The enemies surround us on all sides, sorceric wards made by underdeveloped sorcerers the only thing that stands between evil and good. A stand-off like no other; humans trapped with hungry Werewolves, a Prophetess about to give birth, a missing Element with a startling secret whose retrieval may mean life or death for all.

Our enemy from the past has returned more dangerous than ever; and he’s come back not just to take again what he feels belongs to him, but is carrying a precious hostage of his own as collateral. Once The Warrior deciphers the unread prophecy, he will stop at nothing to recover this hostage without sacrificing the one thing that matters most. Regardless that according to the prophecy book, it may mean his brutal death. No good deed comes without sacrifice.

Costly mistakes are made by those looked up to most, it rattles the faith and trust we have in our heroes. We know we must protect the children, but how? Nobody knows who this bad guy is or what he wants, except for one person, whose trust is earned and shattered in a shocking lie that changes everything. What will end this horrible stand-off? Is it sacrifice? Blood? Or will the truth somehow manage to set them free?

Of Trust or Treason, Book Four of The Legends of Sangue, coming June of 2013.

Is this the real life, is this just fantasy?

Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality….

(Ten pretend dollars to anyone who can guess that epic jam.)

Anyway, you’ll all be happy to discover I updated my About page, lol. *cough cough* it was a wee bit outdated… I put up that new widget (Top Posts and Pages) that tells me the most often viewed pages, and one of them was the About page, and I got to thinking… Huh, if a lot of people are reading it, I should probably know what it says….

Hehe, anyway. So that’s that.

I am attempting…. somehow…. to figure out how to write a decent love relationship. I’ve sort of noticed that any real relationships my characters have either ends in one vicious way or another, or I get bored and move on. Some say that having a guy who had a perfect relationship with a woman who gets brutally murdered and then he spends the rest of his life still in love with her and missing her (because they were soul mates) doesn’t count. Am I that unromantic?

Don’t answer that. Please.

Anyway, also, I realized something exciting!!

Besides that the song on my IPOD is SKIPPING…… HOW does an ipod skip?? Brings me back to the good old days when all you had to do was smack your CD player and it stops skipping… that approach does not work with an ipod… crazy…. wow, I digress badly. Maybe I should ask my two year old niece to fix it, she’s the one that showed me how to use it (kids and technology!!)

Oh yes, the exciting thing! I get to create TWO NEW CHARACTERS!!! One to come in book 5, one to come in book, well, I haven’t decided! I seem to think I need to introduce him in book 5 or 6, even though his main story won’t be told until 11. Haven’t decided yet.

And, since it is now April 9th, and there is a freakin’ BLIZZARD outside, and am unable to drive, go anywhere or do anything, I have a TON of time to write today, yay!

Gosh, this post is kind of leading me nowhere.  Here’s a hint about the jam, probably more confusing if you haven’t already guessed the song.

poeboy

Yes, I feel like being a little ridiculous. I wrote some new scenes for book 11,  a short story that comes between books 5 and 6, and have yet to figure out how to start book 4 (rest assured, it is finished. The ending came out rather fantastic if you ask me.) Though there is one scene I’m adding that I think I can work on…. maybe….

Anywhere the wind blows….

Ok, I think I’m off to go finish this scene. Ta-ta!

Tell me if you’ve guessed the song.

We’re in Business

thevillagepoetpress

We’re in business, people! Last night I wrote a post of my blog The Legends of Sangue (When Mediocre Just Won’t Do), expressing my desire to further my marketing and business efforts, in order to gain more recognition, more readers and more sales. Through research, I have discovered a book published by a company looks much more professional than a self-published book. Also, that it is possible to begin your own publishing company, even if it’s just for the sole purpose of publishing your own work. So, I thought and thought and thought…

And The Village Poet Press was born!

Yes, it is a real business, and shortly all my books will be published under this company name. I figured, if I’m already doing all the work of a full time publishing company, then I may as well give it a name and make it real.

Along with this will be plans to further my marketing reach with specific attempts to gain readership by targeting proper demographics, networking online and off, and doing whatever I can to get the word of my novels out there. Just thought you all would be interested! I’ve gathered some initiative, pretty neat.

Have a wonderful day!

Stacey
